WhatsApp Ordering for Restaurants: Take Orders Without an App, Cart, or Checkout System
Customers build their order on your digital menu and send it to your WhatsApp in one tap — pre-filled, itemised, and ready for you to confirm.
Turn your NEMENU into a real ordering channel without paying for a payments stack you don't need. Diners pick items, choose modifiers, set quantities, then hit Send — the order arrives in your WhatsApp inbox as a clean, structured message you can reply to like any normal chat. Built for takeaway, delivery, and table service in markets where WhatsApp is already where customers chat.

Why Choose NEMENU?
Everything you need to create professional digital menus that delight your customers.
A Real Cart on Your Digital Menu
Customers tap a green floating button on your menu, add items with quantities and modifiers, and see a running total — exactly the flow they already know from food-delivery apps, except it's your brand and your prices.
Orders Land in Your WhatsApp Inbox
Pressing 'Send via WhatsApp' opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled, structured message: bullet points per line, modifier names, line totals, grand total. You confirm pickup or delivery in the same chat.
No App, No Account, No Login
Customers don't install anything. They don't make an account. They don't enter card details. The whole flow happens in their browser and their WhatsApp — two apps they already trust.
Off Until You Want It On
WhatsApp ordering is a per-tenant toggle. Switch it on in Settings → Business Info to enable the cart and the Send button. Switch it off and your menu reverts to a classic browse-only experience instantly.
See Which Visits Came From WhatsApp
Visits coming from WhatsApp web, the WhatsApp app, or links you share with the new 'Share on WhatsApp' button are bucketed into a single 'WhatsApp' source in your analytics — so you can finally measure your real WhatsApp traffic.
A Print-Ready 'Chat on WhatsApp' QR
Generate a second QR poster that opens WhatsApp directly with a friendly greeting pre-filled. Pair it with your menu QR for in-store, or print it on flyers, business cards, or delivery boxes.
How It Works
Get your digital menu up and running in minutes with these simple steps.
Add your WhatsApp number
In Settings → Business Info, enter the WhatsApp number where you want orders to arrive. Use any country format with the country code — we strip non-digits automatically.
Tick 'Enable WhatsApp ordering'
Right under the WhatsApp number, switch on 'Enable WhatsApp ordering — adds an order cart and Send via WhatsApp button on your public menu.' Save.
Open your public menu
A green floating button appears bottom-right. Tap it and you'll see the cart drawer with every item ready to add. Items with variants or required modifiers open a configuration sheet first.
Customers send, you reply
When a customer hits 'Send via WhatsApp', the order arrives in your WhatsApp inbox. Confirm pickup or delivery time, ask any clarifying question, take payment in person or via your existing payment link. No new tooling.

It depends on your business. For takeaway shops, neighborhood restaurants, hotel room service, beach bars, and operations where staff already takes orders by chat, WhatsApp ordering is often a complete solution — orders arrive structured, you confirm, you serve. If you process hundreds of orders an hour with kitchen ticketing and live driver tracking, you'll still want a dedicated platform; WhatsApp ordering complements it as a second channel.
However you already get paid. Cash on delivery, card on pickup, your existing payment link sent in the chat, bank transfer, or NEMENU's Stripe integration if you want in-menu payments. WhatsApp ordering doesn't lock you into any payment provider — it just delivers the order.
Each location can have its own WhatsApp number. When a customer orders from your downtown location, the message goes to that location's number. If a location doesn't have one set, the order falls back to your main tenant WhatsApp number automatically.
No. The cart UI requires both the toggle to be on AND a WhatsApp number to be set. If either is missing, your menu renders exactly like it does today — no floating button, no drawer.
Yes, while the tab is open. Cart state is saved to the customer's browser sessionStorage, scoped per tenant and per location. Closing the tab clears it — every visit starts fresh.
Yes. Each cart line is rendered as '2× Margherita (Large, +Olives) — €18.00'. Variants and modifiers are listed in parentheses and their price contributions are baked into the line total. The grand total at the bottom uses the same currency formatting as your menu.
Yes. NEMENU now collapses traffic from wa.me, web.whatsapp.com, and links tagged utm_source=whatsapp into a single 'WhatsApp' source in your analytics dashboard, with a green WhatsApp icon. The new 'Share on WhatsApp' button on your admin home auto-tags links so attribution works without any manual setup.
Both. The Send button uses wa.me, which is the standard WhatsApp deep link supported by every WhatsApp client — consumer, Business, Web, and Desktop. If you use WhatsApp Business with auto-replies and a catalog, those still work alongside the order messages.
WhatsApp's deep-link URL silently truncates very long messages on some clients. NEMENU caps the order summary at 1,500 characters and appends a short '…(see full order on arrival)' hint, so the customer sends a complete-looking message and you'll see the rest of the items when you serve them. In practice this only triggers for orders of 30+ varied lines.
Yes. WhatsApp ordering is included on every NEMENU plan, including the free plan. The 60-day Pro trial gives you analytics, multi-location WhatsApp numbers, and the rest of the Pro feature set with no card required.
