Beautiful QR Codes in Seconds: How NEMENU's Generator Turns a Scan Into a Brand Moment

A QR code is the first thing most of your customers will see before they even look at your menu. It's printed on the table tent, the poster by the door, the receipt, the back of the business card. And yet for years, QR codes have looked like the same thing every time: a plain black square on a white background, slapped on a page as an afterthought.

Your brand deserves better. Your QR code can — and should — look like part of your restaurant, not a piece of tech bolted onto it.

That's why NEMENU ships with a full QR code generator built into the dashboard. No extra software, no external service, no per-code fees. Just a live editor where you can design a QR code that actually looks like yours.

Design It Your Way

The generator gives you the controls that matter most: colors, shapes, and a center logo. Change any of them and the preview updates instantly — every dot animating into place so you can see exactly what your final code will look like.

Play with the interactive demo below. Change the colors, swap the dot shape, try a different corner style, drop in a logo — this is the same experience you'll get inside NEMENU:

Brand Colors That Scan Perfectly

A common fear with custom QR codes is that colors will break scanning. NEMENU's generator solves this the right way: it picks foreground and background combinations with enough contrast to stay reliably scannable across all phone cameras, even in low light.

Pick from curated brand palettes — warm orange, ocean blue, forest green, deep violet — or enter your own hex code. The preview warns you instantly if contrast drops below scanning safety, so you never end up with a beautiful QR code that no phone can read.

Pro tip: match your QR foreground color to your menu accent color. It's a subtle detail, but printed on a table tent it turns the QR into part of your brand instead of a random black blob.

Dot and Eye Shapes

The small squares that make up a QR code — called modules — can be rendered in different shapes without breaking scanability. NEMENU offers three dot styles:

  • Square — classic, most readable at tiny print sizes
  • Rounded — modern and friendly, pairs well with casual brands
  • Dots — circular modules, perfect for boutique and premium brands

The three big squares in the corners — the finder patterns — are just as important. NEMENU lets you style these independently as squares, rounded rectangles, or fully circular "eyes." A small change here transforms the feel of the whole code.

Put Your Logo in the Middle

QR codes have built-in error correction, which means you can cover up to 30% of the code with a logo and it will still scan reliably. NEMENU automatically uses the highest error-correction level whenever you add a center logo, then sizes and positions it so it stays within the safe zone.

Upload your own logo — PNG, JPG, or SVG — or start with one of the built-in icons for common restaurant types (fork and knife, coffee cup, wine glass, and more). The center logo makes a QR code feel like a stamp of your brand rather than a generic tech widget.

Templates for Every Use Case

Not every QR code lives in the same place. A table tent needs something bold and easy to read from across the room. A business card needs something compact. A window poster needs high contrast to work through glass. NEMENU ships with print-ready QR templates for exactly these cases:

TemplateBest ForWhat's Included

Receipt FooterPaper bills and digital receiptsSlim horizontal layout with a review or reorder link

Each template uses the exact QR style you designed, so the branding stays consistent across everything you print.

Export in Any Format You Need

Once your QR code looks right, export it in whatever format your designer or printer needs:

  • PNG — high-resolution raster, perfect for social posts and digital use
  • SVG — infinitely scalable vector, ideal for large prints and signs
  • PDF — print-ready with bleed and crop marks, great for professional printing
  • JPG — compact format for email and quick sharing

Every export is generated at print resolution — no pixelation, no blur, no surprises when you hand the file to a printer.

One Menu, Many QR Codes

You're not limited to a single QR code. Create as many as you want — one for the front door, one for each table, one for the takeaway counter — and track which ones drive the most scans in the Analytics dashboard.

This is especially useful for multi-location restaurants: each venue can get a QR code that points to its specific menu while sharing the same visual style across locations.

All QR codes generated in NEMENU use dynamic links. If you ever change your domain or restructure your menu, the printed QR codes keep working — no reprints required.

Why Branded QR Codes Matter

A QR code is a tiny piece of design real estate, but it sits on every touchpoint your guests see. Getting it right pays off in ways that aren't always obvious:

  • Guests trust branded QR codes more — they look intentional, not like a sticker someone slapped on
  • A well-designed QR increases scan rates, especially in bars and lounges where the lighting is low and the generic black-and-white codes fade into the background
  • It signals that you care about details — and that tends to correlate with how guests perceive your food and service
  • It extends your brand identity to places where your logo usually can't go — posters, receipts, table tents

How to Create Your QR Code

The whole flow takes less than a minute:

  • Open the QR Code page from the admin sidebar
  • Pick a color preset or enter your brand hex codes
  • Choose your dot shape and corner eye style
  • Upload a logo or pick a built-in icon
  • Preview live as you edit — every change updates instantly
  • Hit Export and download in PNG, SVG, PDF, or JPG

Want a physical template ready to print? Head to the Templates tab, pick a layout (table tent, poster, business card), and your styled QR gets dropped into a print-ready file automatically.
